In 1953 Gillie Taswell Hyde entered a partnership with Les Moran in his car dealership. At this time their dealership, Moran-Hyde, only sold Ford and Mercury vehicles. This small chain of vehicles was located in downtown Glasgow, Ky.

In the mid-60's Gillie Hyde bought out his partner, Les Moran. He then started making changes in the dealership to personalize the business. The first change he made was changing the dealership's name to Gillie Hyde. The second change was the location; he moved the company to 610 Happy Valley Road, where it currently remains.

In 1978 his son, Mike Hyde, bought into 25% of the business. This action changed Gillie Hyde into a family business, which it still is today. When Mike Hyde started taking an active role in the car business, they decided to add Lincoln as another franchise in their market. In the fall of 1980, the family business made another major decision, which was to add the entire line of Chrysler to the dealership. This line which consisted of Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler vehicles, was a major step for the small business. They now maintained two major franchises: Ford and Chrysler.

In 1983 Gillie Hyde passed away, and his son bought the other 75% of the business. Mike left the business name as Gillie Hyde to honor his father. After his father's death, Mike's first solo decision was in 1987. This decision was to add a Chrysler showroom on the same lot as the Ford showroom. This was a rather unique business decision. Normally two franchises aren't located on the same lot. The Jeep franchise was added in 1998 and in 2002 we added Gillie Hyde Pre-Owned which features General Motors and Import cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs. Now Gillie Hyde includes Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Gillie Hyde Pre-Owned Centers in Glasgow as well as Tompkinsville.

Gillie Hyde has always and still provides new and used vehicles sales, parts, service and a body shop. They currently employ 70 plus people, who possess skills ranging from vehicle sales to the repairing of new and used vehicles, internet marketing, fleet sales as well as financing for everyone.
